What are the best apples for apple crisp?

Personally, I like a Honeycrisp apple. They are crunch, sweet and just have an all over great flavor. For this recipe, I used a Honeycrisp and a Granny smith apple.

How to make vegan apple crisp?

Making this apple crisp is so EASY and stress-free. It can be made in as little as two dishes and under 40 minutes. Plus, it will make your home smell so cozy, warm and ready for Fall.

To start, chop your apple into small bite sized pieces. I used a blend of Granny smith apples and Honeycrisp for this recipe. In total, there was about 3 cups of chopped apples.

Then in your baking dish, sprinkle maple butter syrup and cinnamon and mix until the apples are well coated. The maple butter syrup is from Trader Joe’s and it’s a seasonal item and one of my absolute favorites! It tastes so great on top of desserts, toasts or as a dipping sauce for fruit. If you have a Trader Joe’s nearby, I highly recommend getting it this season before they are all out.

Once you have your apples coated, set this dish aside and start to make the streusel topping. To do this, simple combine the dry ingredients.

This recipe calls for oat flour, if you do not have any oat flour on hand, you can easily make your own by blending oats in your blender for about 30 seconds.

In a small bowl, combine oats, oat flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, ground flaxseed meal, and avocado oil. Mix until a crumbly mixture starts to form, then sprinkle this over the apples.

That’s it! The hardest part is over. Then, simply bake the apple crisp in the oven at 350F for 30 minutes.

Top this dessert off with vanilla bean ice cream, whipped cream or yogurt for a healthier alternative.
