If you’ve been following my page for awhile now, you will tell from first glance that I have a major sweet tooth. I love creating recipes that are geared toward healthy nutrition, especially desserts! However, I’ve been spending more time in the kitchen lately creating some savory dishes too. After all, we all need a good balance in our diet.

Shrimp is one of my favorite dishes to make, mainly because it’s quick, but also because it’s nutritious and contains a great source of protein. For this dish I used fresh shrimp and seasoned it with taco seasoning but also marinated it with some chicken bone broth, this gave the ultimate flavor!

Grab these simple ingredients below and give this recipe a try! Don’t forget to tag me over on Instagram or let me know how you liked this dish by leaving a comment and rating below (under the recipe card).

Ingredients in healthy shrimp taco bowls

For this recipe I used fresh shrimp that I picked up at my local sprouts. You can however use frozen shrimp, it will work just as good. I personally like fresh shrimp because I find that it’s crunchier and also much fresher. I love biting into juicy shrimp vs dry and hard shrimp. You will also need your favorite taco seasoning, I used the mild taco seasoning from Siete which added so much flavor. Grab these ingredients below and let’s get cooking!

How to make easy shrimp taco bowls

As I mentioned previously, I love making this recipe for a quick lunch. From start to finish it will be ready in just about 20-25 minutes, which is always a win in my book.

To start, rinse your fresh shrimp under cold water for a few minutes. If using frozen, you can skip this step. Next, add your shrimp to a bowl and mix in the seasoning and bone broth. You can also use veggie, chicken or beef broth. This adds so much flavor and also allows for the seasoning to really stick to the shrimp. Mix the shrimp really well so that each piece is well coated.

Then, heat some olive oil in a non-stick pan over medium to low heat and then add in your shrimp on a single layer. Allow to cool for about 5-6 minutes before flipping. Let the shrimps cook the same amount of time on the other side. You’ll know the shrimps are done when they curl up.

That’s it. Assemble your shrimp bowl with your favorite ad-ins. I like to use lettuce, brown rice, black beans, corn, salsa, cheese, sour cream and cilantro.

Can I save the shrimp?

Absolutely! These shrimps taste great as a meal prep, so feel free to make them ahead of time and save them in the fridge. I like to save everything separately though so that way none of the ingredients become soggy. Simply warm them up on the stove top or microwave when you are ready to enjoy the leftovers!
