The center of these mozzarella sticks are made with string cheese, feel free to use your favorite kind such as full fat, low fat, flavored, etc!
You will need a couple eggs for dipping.
To keep these cheese sticks gluten free, you will need to use 1:1 gluten free flour such as Bob’s Red Mill or King Arthurs. If you aren’t gluten free, you can use all purpose flour.
I used pre-seasoned gluten free bread crumbs to keep this recipe quick and easy, but you can season your breadcrumbs yourself as well with italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder and paprika.
The dipping sauce is made with ranch and pesto, again for ease I used store bought and just combined the two.

How To Make
ONE: Start by freezing your string cheese for a minimum or 3 hours or overnight. You can leave the string cheese in the package or remove them, it’s up to you.

TWO: When ready, remove the string cheese from the freezer and remove them from the plastic and cut them in half.
THREE: Prep the rest of the ingredients by added the whisked eggs in one bowl, the gluten free flour in another, and the gluten free bread crumbs in another.

FOUR: Using one hand dip the cheese in the flour and drop it in the egg mixture. Using the other hand, coat the cheese stick in the egg wash and then drop it back in the flour. Using the flour hand coat the cheese stick in flour fully and then drop it in the egg wash. Then, lastly coat in the bread crumbs.

FIVE: Place the cheese sticks in the air fryer and fry for 5 minutes. Remove, let cool for 1-2 minutes and enjoy with the ranch pesto dipping sauce.
