Apple Cinnamon Rolls Vegan

I don’t know about you, but in my personal opinion, pumpkin is the ingredient of October and Apples are the ingredient of November. This is my absolute favorite time of the year, I love when it starts to get colder, and there is just so much joy surrounding the holidays. There is also so much delicious food to make, like these Apple Cinnamon Rolls.
These Apple Cinnamon Rolls are the perfect dish to make this upcoming Thanksgiving. Unlike traditional cinnamon rolls where it takes hours to make the dough, these cinnamon rolls are yeast-free, so from start to finish you’ll be enjoying this breakfast, or dessert in about 45 minutes time.

Ingredients in Vegan Apple Cinnamon Rolls
You will only need a handful of ingredients to make these apple cinnamon rolls. Flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, sugar, apples. Seems easy enough, right? This is just a quick over-view, be sure to jump down to the recipe card for full details and directions.
flour- all purpose flour works best for this recipe. I have not tested it with a gluten-free 1:1, so I can’t be 100% sure that it would work, but that would be my best recommendation.
vegan sugar– yes, you read that right. Vegan sugar because not all sugar is vegan. Most sugar that you see is perfectly white, this sugar is processed with animal bone char which makes it not vegan. The sugar I use is from Wholesome Sweeteners, which is an off-white color. It skips the bone char processing which makes it fully vegan.
baking powder– since this is a yeast-free recipe, baking powder will act as the rising agent. We will need more than usual for this recipe, but trust me, they’re be super fluffy!
salt– salt is necessary in any recipe to help balance out the flavors.
cinnamon– I used ceylon cinnamon for this recipe, but feel free to use your favorite!
honey crisp apples– honey crisp apples are my favorite apples. They have the most flavor and are perfectly crispy and sweet. However, you can use whichever red apple that you prefer.

Let’s get into the details of making these apple cinnamon rolls
These yeast-free apple cinnamon rolls are simple and easy to make. First, we will make the dough and let that sit for about 15 minutes to rise. In the meantime, we will make the apple filling on the stovetop. All that’s left to do is combine the two and bake the rolls in the oven.
Start by combining flour, baking powder, vegan sugar, salt and cinnamon in a large bowl.
Next, on the stovetop in a small saucepan heat vegan butter and almond milk.
When this mixture is melted and blended together, add it to the bowl with the flour mixture and using a rubber spatula mix until a dough starts to form.
When ready, flour a clean working surface and bring the dough out of the bowl and start to knead it with your hands. Roll the dough into a large ball and place back into the mixing bowl, cover with a damp towel and let it sit for 15 minutes to rise.
Make the apple filling on the stovetop then roll out the dough and fill it with the apple filling.
Roll the dough into a tight log and using floss or a knife cut out the individual cinnamon rolls.
Bake for 25 minutes. Remove and let cool slightly.
While they are baking, prepare the frosting by combining vegan cream cheese, powdered sugar, and almond milk with an electric mixer. Pour this over the warm cinnamon rolls and enjoy.
