  • Gluten-free old fashioned oats- however, you may sub regular old fashioned oats if you’d like. I always grab a container at Trader Joe’s which are organic as well.
  • Sliced almonds
  • Shredded coconut
  • Ground flaxseed
  • Sea salt
  • Cinnamon
  • Sun butter- You may sub any other nut butter
  • Maple syrup- Honey, date syrup or any other liquid sweetener would work here
  • Dried blueberries

  • Parchment paper
  • Baking sheet
  • Two mixing bowls
  • Saucepan
  • Mixing spoon or baking spatula

How to make healthy chocolate granola

It is super simple to make this healthy blueberry flax granola. From start to finish, expect around 45 minutes of prep and cook time.

To make blueberry granola, begin by preheating your oven to 325F.

In a large bowl, mix the oats, coconut, almonds, ground flax, salt and cinnamon until well combined. Set this mixture aside.

In a small saucepan, combine sun butter, maple syrup and vanilla extract and mix until well incorporated. Stir the mixture frequently and don’t allow it to turn to a boil. Once the ingredients are well combined, pour over oats mixture.

Using a kitchen spatula, mix until the ingredients are well incorporated. Then, add in dried blueberries and mix once more.

Line your baking sheet with parchment paper, then pour granola mixture onto the baking sheet. Using the spatula, spread the granola until it is in a thin layer.

Bake the granola in the oven for 25-30 minutes or until the mixture is golden brown and hard to the touch.

Allow the granola to cool completely, then break apart with your fingers.

Store in the pantry at room temperature for up to two weeks.

Your recipe calls for avocado oil but I don’t see the amount. Also the posted video shows vanilla added which the recipe does not list. What is the amount for that as well. Thanks

Hi Becky! Wow thanks for catching those mistakes, this was an older recipe that I needed to pay closer attention too. I just updated the mistakes, there is no need for any oil and there should be 1 tsp vanilla extract. The video is correct, the recipe that I wrote had a few mistakes. Let me know how it turns out for you, I hope you enjoy!
