Ingredients And Substitutions

These are the main ingredients and substitutions for Caramel Apple Yogurt Bites. Scroll down to the recipe card for a full list of ingredients and instructions.

For this recipe I used plain greek yogurt which is naturally high in protein, however, you can use any type of yogurt that your prefer such a vanilla flavored yogurt, or non-dairy yogurt for a vegan option.

Almond butter is added for some healthy fats, but you can use any type of nut or seed butter or just leave it out.

A touch of vanilla bean paste adds a ton of flavor, however you can also use vanilla extract.

Maple syrup is an unrefined sugar that I love to use in my recipes, however, you can also use honey, agave or date syrup.

I prefer green apples for that sweet and sour taste, but you can use any type of apple!

The center has a dollop of coconut caramel, but if you don’t want to make it from scratch you can simply use store-bought!

Use any type of chocolate that you’d like such as dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or even white chocolate.

Tips And Tricks

Yogurt bites must be fully frozen before dipping in the melted chocolate.

Work in small batches when dipping the yogurt in the chocolate so that it doesn’t melt.

Be sure to fully coat the yogurt bites in chocolate to create that outer shell, otherwise the yogurt will seep out once placed in the fridge.

How To Serve And Store

Serve these Caramel Apple Yogurt Bites once the outer shell has fully hardened and enjoy straight out of the fridge. You can also freeze these, however the inside will be hard and tough to enjoy.

Store in the fridge and enjoy within 4-5 days. Or in the freezer and enjoy up to 30 days.

Taste And Texture

Magic Shell Yogurt Bites are sweet with a creamy gooey center. The greek yogurt has a sweet flavor and there are pieces of tender green apples in each bite.

The texture is crunchy on the outside, but smooth and creamy in the center.

  • 1 tsp vanilla bean paste, or vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1/2 green apple, peeled and finely chopped
  • 1/3 cup coconut caramel, divided
  • 1 cup chocolate chips, melted with coconut oil

SCALE:

1X

YIELDS:

6 large bites

Directions

  1. In a bowl, mix together the yogurt, almond butter, maple syrup, and vanilla.
  2. Add in peeled and finely chopped green apples, mix until well incorporated.
  3. Use a cookie scoop or a spoon and add dollops of the yogurt to a baking sheet that is lined with parchment paper, spread even in a circle.
  4. Add on a dollop of caramel to the center of each yogurt bite and freeze until full firm, about 4 hours.
  5. When ready, in a medium bowl melt the chocolate, I like to add in a touch of coconut oil which helps the chocolate melt and have a creamy and smooth texture. Place it in the microwave in 30 second increments giving it a good stir between each round.
  6. Working quickly, dip each frozen yogurt bite in the melted chocolate and coat fully. Place back on the parchment paper and back into the freezer for about 30 minutes more.
  7. Once totally frozen again, store in the fridge and enjoy!
