Ingredients and Substitutions:
These are the main ingredients and substitutions for Cashew Caesar Dressing. Be sure to check out my recipe card at the bottom of this blog post for a full ingredients list and instructions.
If you don’t have a Trader Joe’s near you, Sushi Nori makes a great substitution for the Nori Komi Furikake Japanese Multi-Purpose Seasoning that I used in this recipe. This ingredient is crucial for giving this vegan Caesar salad dressing that traditional fishy flavor.
Raw cashews are the main ingredient in this recipe to give this salad dressing a creamy texture. If you want something nut-free, I’d recommend checking out another recipe.
Nutritional yeast is used to give this vegan salad dressing a light cheesy flavor, you may sub soy sauce instead.
Brine from a jar of capers is also crucial for this recipe to give that distinct anchovy flavor that traditional Caesar salad dressing has.
This recipe calls for Dijon mustard, however you can substitute any type of mustard that you’d like. I’d stick to something traditional such as yellow mustard.
White miso paste is one of my favorite ingredients to have stocked in the fridge. It adds so much flavor to any recipe, the best substitution would be soy sauce.
I always recommend using fresh lemon juice, however you can totally get away with using packaged lemon juice.

How to make
The process of making cashew caesar dressing is quick and easy. All you need to do is add all of the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. It’s really that simple.
Tips for success
When it comes time for lunch, the last thing you want to be doing is taking over 30 minutes to put something quick and healthy together. Salads are typically my go-to on most days, and this vegan salad dressing has been on repeat for me.
Use a small high speed blender like a nutribullet. I have tried making this recipe in my BlendTec, but because it’s a small amount it was hard to really blend all the ingredients together. The nutribullet was much more efficient.
If your salad dressing is too thick, simply add in a tablespoon of water until it reaches your desired consistency.
Frequently asked questions:
Yes, this recipe is 100% vegan, plant-based and dairy-free.
No, unfortunately not. Cashews is the main ingredient in this recipe.
This vegan caesar salad dressing will stay fresh up to 5 days in the fridge. I recommend storing it in an airtight container with a lid.
