These are the main ingredients and substitutions for Cinnamon Roll Overnight Oats. Be sure to scroll down to the recipe card at the bottom of this page for a full list of ingredients and instructions.

You can use organic or regular old fashioned rolled oats. I have not tested this recipe with quick oats, and steel cut oats will not work. To make this recipe gluten free, use certified gluten free rolled oats.

Add in some plain greek yogurt to give these oats that cream cheese flavor that typical cinnamon rolls have. To make this recipe dairy free and vegan, use a plant based yogurt like almond, cashew or coconut. Alternatively, you can use a flavor yogurt like vanilla.

Use you can any milk, I used almond milk but feel free to use coconut milk, cashew milk, hemp milk, or any other type of milk/nut milk alternative.

Ground cinnamon is a must.

A touch of vanilla extract adds a lovely flavor.

Maple syrup is an unrefined sugar and really gives this recipe a warm flavor. You can use agave, honey or brown sugar.

A pinch of salt helps balance out all the flavors.

The frosting is made with greek yogurt, cinnamon and a splash of almond milk. To make this vegan, use a vegan yogurt like cashew, coconut or almond.

how to make

ONE: Start by combining all the ingredients together in a bowl or cup that has a lid. Mix until well combined. I love using these spice jars from amazon that come with an airtight lid. They are perfect for overnight oats.

TWO: Place jars in the fridge for a minimum of 4 hours or overnight. The next morning, mix well and top with frosting.

THREE: First, layer on a tablespoon of greek or non dairy yogurt and spread it evenly. Then, in a small bowl, combine greek yogurt, cinnamon and a splash of almond milk. Mix until well incorporated and then add to a small plastic bag. I love using these composite bags.

FOUR: Cut off the corner of the plastic bag and make a swirl on top of the yogurt. Then, ENJOY!

frequently asked questions

How long will these oats last for in the fridge?

3-5 days when stored properly. Use an airtight container like the ones linked above.

Can I warm these oats up the next morning instead of eating them cold?

Yes, absolutely! Although I prefer eating mine cold, you can warm these oats up in the microwave for 30-60 seconds or until warm all the way through. Alternatively, you can use the stovetop.

Do I have to add yogurt?

The yogurt is what gives this recipe that tart flavor that cinnamon rolls have from the cream cheese frosting. You can make this recipe without it but the flavor will be different.

Can I add the frosting on the night before?

Yes you can!

I made this as directed, only adding chia seeds and non dairy yogurt. It was heavenly!

This is an amazing flavor!! The tartness of the Greek yogurt really does give that cream cheese flavor. I like a thicker oatmeal so next time I’m going to use less almond milk. I also used Stonyfield’s nonfat plain Greek yogurt which has a bit of a looser consistency so I need to adjust. Overall will definitely make this again!

Hi Dorina! Aw i’m so happy to hear you’re enjoying the recipe!! Thanks so much for your comment and rating. I can’t wait to see what you make next! xx
