Ingredients And Substitutions

These are the main ingredients and substitutions for Cottage Cheese Chia Pudding. Scroll down to the recipe card for a full list of ingredients and instructions.

For the cottage cheese I love to use the brand Good Culture, it’s creamy and has the best flavor and texture in my opinion, but any brand will work!

You can use regular milk, or any other milk or nut-milk alternative.

Fresh strawberries are blended into the milk mixture for added flavor. I don’t recommend using frozen strawberries as it would create a thicker consistency.

I used local honey to sweeten it up, but you can also use maple syrup, date syrup or even a sugar like cane sugar, coconut sugar or monk fruit sweetener.

Vanilla extract is optional but I always love to add it into my recipes.

Chia seeds are the main ingredient and cannot be substituted out for this recipe.

TWO: Next, pour strawberry milk over chia seeds and mix well with a whisk. Let it sit on the counter for 5 minutes and then whisk again. Cover and refrigerate for a minimum of 2 hours.

THREE: When ready, give it a good mix and serve with more fresh strawberries, sliced almonds and chocolate shavings if desired.

Tips And Tricks

Blend together all the ingredients with the exception of the chia seeds first to create a frothy and mousse like texture.

After combining the chia seeds and milk, let it sit on the counter for 5 minutes and then give it another good mix before covering. This will ensure the chia seeds do not clump together.

Use a big bowl when making this recipe, this will also help to ensure the chia seeds do not stick together.

Taste And Texture

This Cottage Cheese Chia Pudding is sweet and slightly tangy. It reminds me of strawberry cheesecake but a much healthier version.

The texture is smooth and creamy and resembles a frothy and thick mousse, with a touch of crunch from the chia seeds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to blend the milk ingredients or can I just mix them?

You don’t have too no, but blending the cottage cheese first creates a smooth and creamy texture so that way you don’t have clumps of cottage cheese. But blending the strawberries is necessary.

What other flavors can I do instead of strawberry?

Honestly, any berry would work! Mango would taste amazing too I bet.

Is this healthy?

Yes! Chia seeds are very healthy for you and make a great breakfast. They are loaded with fiber, which can improve heart health, reduce cholesterol levels and promote intestinal health.

Have made this a couple of times, it’s so good. Full of fibre, I add a dollop of protein yogurt, granola and sunflower seeds. Keeps me full until lunch. Really good recipe.
