Greek Yogurt Jello with Chia Seeds
This Greek Yogurt Jello with Chia Seeds combines fresh strawberries, creamy Greek yogurt, and gelatin into a fun twist on classic jello. It’s easy to make, packed with strawberry flavor, and perfect for a snack, breakfast, or light dessert.

I first made this recipe after seeing yogurt jello trending online and immediately knew I had to try it. What makes this version so unique is the combination of creamy Greek yogurt and gelatin. The yogurt gives it a rich, tangy flavor while the gelatin transforms it into a perfectly sliceable, spoonable treat with that nostalgic jello texture. Add in fresh strawberries and chia seeds, and you end up with something that feels like a cross between strawberry mousse, pudding, and classic strawberry jello.
If you enjoy working with gelatin, be sure to check out my Strawberry Gummies and Homemade Marshmallows, a couple more fun recipes that show just how versatile this ingredient can be.
I highly recommend topping it with my Coconut Whipped Cream and fresh strawberries for an extra refreshing finish. The creamy yogurt, sweet berries, and light jello texture make it one of those recipes that’s almost impossible to stop eating after the first bite. And if you’re a fellow jello lover, don’t miss my Grandma’s Orange Cheese Mandarin Jello. It’s a nostalgic family favorite and one of the most unique jello recipes on the blog.

How to Make
Add strawberries and maple syrup to a saucepan and cook until the strawberries are very soft and juicy.

In a small bowl, whisk together the gelatin and cold water. Let sit for 2–3 minutes to bloom.

Add the bloomed gelatin into the warm strawberry mixture and whisk until fully dissolved.

Transfer the strawberry mixture to a blender or use an immersion blender and blend until completely smooth.

Pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl to remove any remaining seeds or pulp. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Let the mixture cool until warm but not hot. Whisk in the chia seeds until fully combined.

Whisk in the yogurt until fully combined.

Let the mixture sit, then whisk once more to evenly distribute the chia seeds. Pour into a dish or individual jars and refrigerate for a minimum of 4 hours before enjoying!

Tips and Tricks
- Let the strawberry mixture cool slightly before adding the yogurt to keep everything smooth and creamy.
- Whisk the mixture again after a few minutes to help evenly distribute the chia seeds.
- Blend thoroughly and strain for the smoothest texture.
How to Save and Store
Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. This recipe is not recommended for freezing, as the texture can become grainy once thawed.

Yes, you can absolutely use your preferred sweetener instead of maple syrup! A sugar-free sweetener or monk fruit sweetener should work well. Just keep in mind that the nutrition values will change depending on what you use. For the most accurate nutrition information, I recommend entering your exact ingredients and brands into MyFitnessPal or another nutrition calculator
Will definitely try this.
Can’t wait to hear what you think!
Can you tell me how many carbs are in a serving! I am a type I diabetic. Thank you
Of course! 😊 Based on the ingredients I used, it’s approximately 7 grams of carbohydrates per serving when divided into 6 servings. Since ingredient brands and substitutions can vary, I always recommend plugging the exact ingredients you use into MyFitnessPal or your preferred nutrition calculator for the most accurate carb count.
Can other fruits be used? I have a strawberry allergy.
Absolutely! 😊 This recipe works well with lots of different fruits. Raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, cherries, peaches, mango, or even a mixed berry blend would all be delicious. Just prepare the fruit the same way as the strawberries and keep the gelatin amount the same so it sets properly. I think raspberry or blackberry would be especially good!
Good!
What kind of jello did you used ? Unfavor or strawberry jello . I would really like to try it . It looks delicious.
Thank you so much! 😊 I actually didn’t use any boxed Jello in this recipe. I used unflavored gelatin powder, which is what gives it that jello-like texture while still letting the fresh strawberry flavor shine through. The strawberries, Greek yogurt, maple syrup, and gelatin are all you need! I hope you give it a try and love it as much as I do. 🍓💕

Sounds good, I’ve been looking for a recipe using plain gelatin but I thought you had to soak the chia seeds first for 24 hours to be safe. Is this true?
Great question! No, chia seeds do not need to be soaked for 24 hours to be safe. Chia seeds can be eaten dry, soaked, blended, baked, or mixed directly into recipes. In this recipe, they’re stirred into the yogurt mixture and then refrigerated for several hours, which gives them plenty of time to absorb liquid and soften.
The gelatin is actually doing most of the “setting” here, while the chia seeds add a little texture and help thicken the mixture slightly.I hope you enjoy it if you give it a try! 😊
Can you use vanilla flavored Greek yogurt? Or will it mess with the flavor of the strawberries.
You can abolutely use vanilla flavored yogurt. it will just make the jello sweeter!
Yum
they’re so delicious aren’t they!
So good

Hi there! I used a 5×7 pan, however any sized dish will work since it firms and you slice into bars.
Uy

But I have to warn you on a mistake you should fix cause its false. Gelatine is not vegetarian at all. 🤷♀️ Might be problem for your accountability and for others who are vegetarian.

This recipe is great for snack. Thank you
Excellent. Made in 9×5 glass pan. Makes perfect cubes or slices. Does this need to be covered?
Covered and refrigerated, yes! so glad you enjoyed them!
I’m wondering about the straining step. Do you think it’s necessary to the finished product? I’m just thinking about all the fiber in that discarded pulp. Can’t wait to try this! 🍓🍓
The straining it just to remove the strawberry seeds, if you don’t mind the extra crunch you can leave them in!
Just made this with the strawberries from my garden. Perfection.
sounds so perfect!
Sounds super yummy! Do you have to add the chia seeds?
no you don’t!
Super easy directions to follow…I used blueberries instead of strawberries…yummy bars…multiple people loved the bars….I will definitely make again. Thank you
Love that!!
I am cooking away from home and have no strainer here. Please advise.
You can skip straining if you’d like! The strawberry seeds will just be in the bars, but will still taste lovely!
I will not strain and enjoy the crunch as you replied to another cook.
This desert is a keeper.
Thank you so much.
So glad you are enjoyed it!
