I started making these strawberry gummies when I realized I was eating way too many fruit snacks—my number one pregnancy craving right now! I wanted something that felt like a treat but made me feel good eating it too, so I decided to experiment in the kitchen. That’s when I discovered how amazing gelatin is—it was a total game-changer. It’s so easy to create the perfect chewy texture with just the right amount of firmness.

I blended fresh strawberries, simmered the mixture on the stove, stirred in the gelatin, and poured it into molds. The process was quick and simple, and the results were even better than I imagined—soft, chewy, and packed with real strawberry flavor. Now, these gummies are my go-to treat when I want something sweet but wholesome. Plus, I’ve had so much fun trying out different molds and flavors—it’s a little creative outlet that satisfies both my cravings and my love of cooking!

Ingredients Needed to Make Homemade Strawberry Gummies

Fresh Strawberries: The star of the recipe, providing natural sweetness and fruity flavor. (I haven’t tried this with frozen strawberries, as the gelatin may not set the same way.)

Fresh Lime Juice: Adds a natural sweet-and-sour balance that enhances the strawberry flavor.

Maple Syrup: A natural sweetener that blends beautifully with the fruit. You can also use honey, agave, or even a dry sweetener like coconut or cane sugar.

Gelatin: The key ingredient for achieving that perfect chewy texture and helping the gummies set properly.

How to Make Homemade Fruit Gummies

Blend the Strawberries: Place diced strawberries, fresh lime juice, and maple syrup (or your sweetener of choice) in a blender. Blend until the strawberries are fully broken down. If the mixture is full of seeds, strain it through a fine mesh strainer to remove them—this creates a smoother texture.

Prepare the Gelatin Mixture: Pour the strawberry juice into a saucepan over medium heat. Gradually sprinkle in the gelatin while whisking continuously to prevent clumps. Bring the mixture to a slow boil while whisking, then remove it from the heat once it starts boiling.

Fill the Molds: Transfer the gelatin mixture to a Pyrex glass measuring cup for a cleaner and easier pour. If you’re using square silicone molds, pouring directly works well. For gummy bear molds or intricate shapes, an eye dropper is helpful for precision and avoiding spills. Slowly fill each mold to the top.

Cool and Set: Place the filled molds in the fridge for about 1-2 hours to allow the gummies to solidify. Remove once full firm and chilled completely and enjoy!

Tips and Tricks for Perfect Strawberry Gummies

  • Strain for a Smoother Texture: If your strawberries are seedy, run the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer. This makes the gummies easier to fill and gives them a smooth, clean texture.
  • Choose the Right Molds: Square silicone molds are easier and faster to fill. For detailed molds like gummy bears, use an eye dropper for precise filling.
  • Place Molds on a Baking Sheet: Before filling your silicone molds, set them on a baking sheet. This makes it much easier to transfer them to the fridge without spilling.
  • Avoid Clumps: Sprinkle the gelatin slowly into the saucepan while whisking constantly. This ensures the gelatin dissolves evenly without forming clumps.

My kids and I loved these! Made them with blueberries instead of strawberries and they turned out so good!!

I made this recipe yesterday. My son was recently diagnosed with a chronic connective tissue disorder, so I looked for recipes to add more gelatin to his diet. While the puree was cooking, and I was adding the gelatin, I noticed a lot of foam had started forming. I’m not sure if what I did helped, or it would’ve gone away, but when I’m cooking fruit for canning, I add butter and it takes away the foam, so I added butter. Since I doubled your recipe, I added 1 tablespoon of butter. The first one I poured had a little foam, but the remaining molds had no foam. These are delicious and very easy to make. I prefer recipes with minimal ingredients when possible, so I was happy about that with this recipe. I really like using fresh fruit instead if juice when possible also. Thank you so much ❤️
