ingredients and Substitutions
Use unsalted butter for best results, you can substitute for grass fed butter or clarified ghee. I have not tested this recipe using oils.
Ceremonial grade matcha powder gives these brownies that bright green and vibrant color!
High quality white chocolate chips help these brownies stay moist and have a fudgy texture. You can also use a chopped white chocolate bar.
Granulated sugar, brown sugar and eggs are creamed together using an electric mixer for about 5 minutes until light and fluffy. I have no tested this recipe with any other sugars, but my best guess is that you could substitute the brown sugar for coconut sugar, although the end result may differ slightly.
Vanilla extract adds flavor to this recipe.
Kosher salt to help balance out the flavors and give these brownies a lovely sweet and salty flavor.
All purpose flour is used for the base, you may be able to substitute a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend, however, please note the end result may differ slightly.

What Is Matcha?
Matcha is a beautiful, vibrant green tea powder that is made from finely ground green tea leaves. The powder is traditionally mixed with water and then added to your favorite milk for a matcha latte. It contains antioxidants that can help you stay energized throughout the day.
how to make
STEP 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, then prepare an 8×8 inch pan by lining it with parchment paper.
STEP 2: Melt butter in the microwave for 1-2 minutes in 1 minute increments, or on the stovetop. Then, in a medium bowl combine the white chocolate chips and matcha powder. Pour melted butter over chocolate chips and matcha and mix until melted and well combined.

STEP 3: In a large mixing bowl, add in granulated sugar and brown sugar. Then, using an electric mixer add in eggs and beat mixture for 3-5 minutes. You really want to incorporate a lot of air into the batter. The consistency should resemble a thick pancake batter.

STEP 4: Next, pour the white chocolate/matcha ganache into the egg/sugar mixture and mix until combined. Add in the vanilla extract.

STEP 5: Then, sift flour and salt into the mixture and using a rubber spatula fold the ingredients until just combined. Try not to over mix!

STEP 6: Pour the batter into a prepared 8×8 pan and bake at 350F for 20 minutes. Carefully remove with oven mitts and drop the brownies on the counter 2-3 times. Then, return to the oven to bake for an additional 15 minutes.

STEP 7: Remove from the oven and drop it on the counter 2 more times before allowing it to rest for 1 hour or until it reaches room temperature.

STEP 8: Remove from the pan, slice into and enjoy!

Tips and tricks
Cream eggs and sugar together with an electric mixer for 3-5 minutes. You want the consistency to resemble pancake batter. It should be thick and airy.
Melt the white chocolate chips using the hot melted butter.
Gently fold in the sifted flour to the batter so that you don’t deflate the mixture.
Using oven mitts, remove the brownies from the oven after 20 minutes and drop them on the counter 2-3 times. This helps the brownies get that crinkle top and removes the air pockets so your brownies aren’t too fluffy like cake.
Clean your knife in between cuts.
Before you cut, make sure your brownies are at room temperature. Alternatively, you can chill the brownies in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes for optimal cutting.
How to make the perfect brownies
I tested this matcha brownie recipe four times before realizing that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! I followed Buzz Feed Tasty’s method and recipe for The Best Brownies Ever. However, I adapted and changed a few things to create matcha brownies instead of the chocolate brownies that they made.
They walked, so we could run. Thanks a lot buzz feed tasty!
