ingredients and Substitutions

You will only need a handful of simple ingredients to make this toast recipe!

My preferred bread type if sourdough, it’s the best tasting (in my opinion) and it’s also the easiest to digest! However, feel free to substitute your favorite bread here! They will all taste great.

All natural runny peanut butter is my favorite. I picked up a jar from Trader Joe’s where the only ingredient is peanut butter.

A creamy and ripe avocado!

I seasoned this toast with the classic seasonings, salt and pepper.

how to make

ONE: Toast your bread in the toaster or on the stovetop!

TWO: Smother on some peanut butter, I did about 3 tablespoons.

THREE: Cut your avocado in half, peel back the skin and then slice. Add the avocado to the toast.

FOUR: Season with salt and pepper and enjoy!

Tips and tricks

Peeling back the skin from the avocado actually holds onto more of the nutrients that’s in the skin. Try peeling back the skin rather than scooping the avocado out.

How to serve and store

Serve this peanut butter and avocado toast immediately.

For best results, this toast recipe should not be stored.

Taste and Texture

I know what you’re thinking… That’s such an odd pairing! I was skeptical too. But the flavor is actually pretty underwhelming. The peanut butter over powers the avocado, so you really only taste the texture and creaminess of the avocado.

frequently asked questions

How do you know when your avocado is ripe?

An avocado that is dark green, almost black, is ripe. Try to pop off the stem with your thumb, if it falls right off it’s ripe. If it stays stuck on it’s not ripe.

What the best kind of peanut butter to use?

I prefer using organic natural peanut butter where the only ingredient is peanuts!

What’s the best bread to use?

My preference is sourdough bread, but any type of bread will taste great here.
