Ever since I went full time Lovely Delites in January, I had been struggling trying to find the right morning routine. After a few months of trial and error, I finally found something that works for me. I’ve been able to add movement to my day 4-5 times a week, and i’ve fallen in love with the process of working out again.

I used to dread working out, and it wasn’t until recently that I figured out why. It was because I was doing the wrong workouts. I was doing things that other women were doing to “grow a big booty”. LOL. I would hit the gym, lift heavy, pull something in my back and just tell myself that I need to work through it.

Until I stopped completely and thought back to the days where I used to enjoy working out. Back then, I was primarily doing body weight workouts and it worked for me. So, now my morning routine consists of waking up, brushing my teeth, drinking my warm lemon water and then stretching.

I workout before I look at my phone, the first hour of the day is dedicated to me and me only. I focus on both my mental and physical health and I cannot even begin to tell you how much of a difference it has made in my day-to-day.

After my workout, I make my breakfast smoothie which is pictured above. I do a double wammy by combining my protein with my coffee and it’s THE BEST THING, ever. periodt.

Ingredients in protein coffee shake

As I mentioned previously, I was struggling trying to find the right morning routine. After I re-established my love for working out, I was then making a protein shake, then drinking my coffee, and then drinking water. It was a lot of liquid in the morning to say the least, and I wasn’t ever hungry for real food.

Then, I decided one day.. let’s combine my coffee and protein shake and knock out two birds with one stone. So that’s when this magical masterpieces was born.

It’s made with:
  • frozen banana
  • fresh brewed coffee (or cold brew)
  • chocolate protein
  • collagen
  • powdered peanut butter
  • ice
Substitutions

This shake can vary and is totally customizable, here are some substitutions that you can do if you don’t have the exact same ingredients on hand.

swap the frozen banana for frozen cauliflower, frozen yogurt, or frozen coconut. It’s ideal to have frozen fruit so the smoothie has a thick and creamy texture.

fresh brewed coffee- I use my Nespresso machine and use the chocolate fudge pod, however any pod will work! OR you can use cold brew from Wandering Bear, if you decide to go that route, you can use code LOVELYDELITES for a 10% discount. But honestly, regular old coffee from the coffee pot will also work just fine!

chocolate protein- lately i’ve been using Vital Proteins newest line of chocolate protein, which is really really good! You can use any chocolate protein or vanilla protein that you want. I have tried both, but prefer chocolate to give the shake a mocha type flavor. It’s so good!

collagen– you can omit this if you want to make this shake vegan! I’ve been using Ancient Nutrition newest blend of collagen. I also like using Vital Proteins unflavored peptides.

swap the powdered peanut butter for regular peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter, etc! This is where you will get the healthy fats in.

how to make mocha protein shake

I think it’s pretty self explanatory from here, but incase it’s not… let’s break it down.

For starters, I have a Blendtec and love love love it. I use it daily and i’ve never had any issues with it. This is definitely a luxury blender, it was something that I saved up for for half a year. However, can use any highspeed blender.

Start by adding in the frozen banana, then the coffee, followed by the protein powder, collagen, powdered peanut butter and ice.

Blend on high speed for 30-60 seconds, pour and enjoy!

Where to buy glasses and straws:

I purchased both the glass cups and the glass straws on amazon. I love this smaller thicker glasses, but I also have the tall skinny version that you can find here.
