Creamy, thick and non-dairy Overnight Oats
Overnight oats may be one of my favorite meals to make. They are easy, convenient and the perfect meal for those that are constantly on the go, or have busy mornings like myself. Not only are they quick to throw together, but they are also good for you!
I ditched dairy milk many years ago, and since then have switched to non-dairy alternatives such as almondmilk. One brand that I have loved through the years is Almond Breeze. Almond Breeze has been pioneering how almonds are enjoyed for over 100 years. It’s a brand that I know, trust and thoroughly enjoy using in my day-to-day.
For this recipe, I used Almond Breeze Unsweetened Original Almondmilk, because it provides a touch of the almond’s natural sweetness, and has no added sugar. I added in a touch of maple syrup to these Strawberry Chocolate Overnight Oats to compliment the unsweetened almondmilk to build a nice base without added too much sugar.

Ingredients needed to make overnight oats
As I mentioned previously, these overnight oats are not only easy to make, but they are loaded with healthy ingredients for the perfect start to your day.
- Old fashioned oats
- Cacao
- Chia seeds
- Maple syrup
- Non-dairy yogurt
- Almond Breeze Unsweetened Original Almondmilk

How to make overnight oats
Overnight oats are made the night before, however, you can also make them the same day (they just need a few hours to marinate in the fridge). I love making a big batch of them at the start of the week and having them on hand in the fridge. This way, I always have a healthy meal that is ready to go.
To make my overnight oats, I like to use a large jar, mason jar or Tupperware. Generally, you want something that has a lid so you can lock the moisture in. However, if you don’t have anything like this, you can simply cover any bowl with cellophane and that will work just fine.
To start, add oats to the mason jar. Followed by the remainder of ingredients: chia seeds, cacao, non-dairy yogurt, maple syrup and Almond Breeze Unsweetened Original Almondmilk. Mix well with a spoon until ingredients are well incorporated. You will have a thick creamy texture.
Cover the jar with a lid, and store in the fridge either overnight or up to 2 hours minimum. Then, stir and top it off with your toppings of choice.
For this recipe I used strawberries, cacao nibs and almond butter. This made for the most delicious breakfast that was filled with healthy ingredients!

Overnight oats are a healthier snack or breakfast option
Chocolate strawberry overnight oats are vegan and can easily be made gluten-free with the use of gluten-free old-fashioned oats. They are suitable for any diet and lifestyle and are jam packed with vitamins, and complex carbs.
I personally love overnight oats in the morning, but like I mentioned previously, they are great to meal prep for the week. For instance, if I’m feeling snacky, I can always reach for a small bowl of overnight oats that are ready to go in the fridge. I personally think they get better as the days go on as well.
