Ingredients And Substitutions
These are the main ingredients and substitutions for Vegan Berry Crisp. Scroll down to the recipe card for a full list of ingredients and instructions.
I recommend using frozen berries for this recipe, it’s much more cost efficient but just as amazing tasting. If you don’t want to use frozen berries, fresh will work the same!
I personally like to add in a touch of jam or jelly which not only adds a touch of sweetness, but also adds to the overall texture of the dessert. Spread the Love is my favorite brand of clean jelly!
Coconut sugar is what I used for the sweetener, however, cane sugar, brown sugar or even maple syrup, agave or date syrup will work. Alternatively, monk fruit sweetener or honey will work as well.
The crisp is made with a blend of oat flour and oats.
Adding in the ground flax is optional, however, I love that it adds a bit of fiber.
You can use any type of oil that you prefer such as extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, or even avocado oil.
Maple syrup is an all natural sweetener that I love to use in my recipes, it works great at adding a touch of sweetness to the crisp. Alternatively, you can use honey, agave or date syrup.

How To Make
ONE: Add the frozen berries directly into your baking dish. Add in the jam and coconut sugar and mix well until each berry is well coated and set aside.

TWO: Next in a medium mixing bowl, add in the oat flour, oats, ground flax, extra virgin olive oil and maple syrup. Mix well until a thick crumble is formed.

THREE: Using your hands, grab the mixture and crumble between your fingers and sprinkle over the berries until they are well coated, with little to no berries showing. Bake until golden brown.

FOUR: Let sit on the counter for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm with vanilla ice cream or coconut whip cream.

Tips And Tricks
Use fresh berries instead of frozen! It’s much cheaper without sacrificing on taste or flavor.
No need to mix the berries in a separate bowl, add them directly into your baking dish!
