ingredients and Substitutions

These are the main ingredients and substitutions for Vegan Guacamole. Be sure to scroll down to the recipe card at the bottom of this page for a full list of ingredients and instructions.
Use ripe avocados for best results. You know your avocados are ripe when the stem easily pops off and when you very gently but firmly press into it and it’s soft.
Key limes add the perfect amount of tanginess. You can sub lemons or regular limes.
You can’t have guac without salt and pepper. I prefer to use sea salt and freshly ground pepper.
Red onion adds the perfect crunch and spicy flavor. You can sub white onion but the flavor will be slightly different.
Use fresh cilantro to add flavor.
Freshly minced garlic is recommended but you can also use minced garlic from a jar if preferred.
Serve this guacamole with tortilla chips, corn chips, veggies or on top of your favorite meals like tacos, enchiladas and so much more!
