The secret ingredients that I always add to my tuna salad is apples! Apples add not only a create sweet flavor, but they also add in a nice texture giving each bite a sweet crunch!
This tuna salad has a really great mustard flavor. The apples balance out the rest of the pallet making it so delicious and enjoyed by all.
For the Tuna, I used the Skipjack Wild caught Tuna from Trader Joe’s. However, you can use your preferred Tuna for this recipe. Just make sure that you have at least 12oz for this recipe.
I enjoy this Tuna because once it is caught, it is tested for mercury. If it has too much, it is not sold. So this Tuna doesn’t have a huge fishy taste, which I like.
For the vegan mayo, I used the Primal Kitchen Foods Rosemary Vegan Mayo which gave this dish a really nice flavoring. However, you can use whichever mayo that you prefer. If you don’t like mayo, you can simply use avocado!
For the mustard, I also used Primal Kitchen Foods Organic Spicy Brown Mustard, which is phenomenal. Growing up, you would never catch me eating mustard, but as I got older I started to really love the sour and bitter taste of it. It adds a really nice flavor to this tuna salad, and once paired with the sweetness and crunch of the apples it really balances the dish out nicely.

Thank god for this little twist in a classic tuna salad! The apples definitely are a game changer. I will continue adding them when I make a tuna salad/sandwhich!
Ever since I saw this recipe, I have been adding fuji apples to my tuna salad wraps and it is SUCH a game changer. The sweetness of the apples perfectly balances the savory and salty tuna salad. In LOVE!
