What You’ll Need to Make a Banana Bread Latte (Hot or Iced)

Banana Syrup – The star of the show! Adds that cozy, banana bread sweetness. Homemade is best (and super easy), but you can use store-bought if needed. Adjust to taste depending on how sweet you like it.

Espresso or Strong Brewed Coffee – Espresso will give you that rich, bold flavor, but strong brewed coffee works too—especially if you’re making it iced. Just make sure it’s cooled before pouring over ice.

Milk or Non-Dairy Milk – Use your favorite—oat, almond, whole milk, or even coconut milk all froth beautifully. For the hot latte, warm and froth it before pouring; for the iced version, it goes in cold or shaken.

Optional Garnishes – A sprinkle of cinnamon, banana slices, or a drizzle of maple syrup makes your drink look (and taste) like it came from a coffee shop.

For the Vanilla Maple Cold Foam (Optional but SO good)

Heavy Cream – The base of the cold foam—thick, creamy, and dreamy. You can sub with half & half for a lighter version, or plant-cream for a dairy free version!

Vanilla Bean Paste or Vanilla Extract – Adds that sweet, cozy vanilla flavor. Paste gives you those pretty flecks, but extract works just as well.

Maple Syrup – Adds a warm, natural sweetness. Sub with honey or agave if you’d like.

How to Make a Banana Bread Latte (Hot or Iced)

For the iced version:

Start with a glass and add your banana syrup right to the bottom. Fill the glass with ice—crushed or cubed both work!

Pour in your cooled espresso or strong brewed coffee. Top it off with your milk of choice, then give everything a good stir. For a coffee shop-style finish, shake it all up in a cocktail shaker for extra froth and pour it back over fresh ice. Garnish with banana slices, a sprinkle of cinnamon, or a little maple drizzle if you’re feeling fancy.

For the hot version: Heat your milk until warm and frothy—either using a frother or warming it on the stovetop and whisking. In your favorite mug, stir together the banana syrup and hot espresso. Pour in the steamed milk, stir to combine, and top with foam or a dusting of cinnamon if you’d like. Sip and enjoy that cozy banana bread vibe.

Want to level it up? Add vanilla maple cold foam: In a small jar or milk frother, combine heavy cream, vanilla bean paste (or extract), and maple syrup. Froth until thick and creamy but still pourable. Spoon it over your iced banana latte or cold brew and enjoy a coffee shop-worthy moment at home.

Notes

  • Customize the spice level: Feel free to add extra cinnamon, a pinch of nutmeg, or even pumpkin spice to really lean into those cozy vibes.
  • Froth for flair: A handheld frother or a quick shake in a sealed jar gives your milk that coffee shop feel without any special equipment.

I made the Homemade Banana Syrup part of this recipe for my daughter to add her her mushroom coffee but I was lazy and just threw it all in a blender instead of strained it. She absolutely loved it! Definitely recommend!
