Double Chocolate Mug Cake with Greek Yogurt
If you need a quick chocolate fix but don’t want to bake an entire batch of dessert, this Double Chocolate Mug Cake with Greek Yogurt is about to become your new obsession. Made in just minutes with simple pantry staples, this fluffy, rich single serve chocolate mug cake has the perfect gooey texture and is packed with melty chocolate in every bite.

This easy mug cake recipe is one of my favorite ways to satisfy a dessert craving when I want something warm, cozy, and homemade without the effort. The Greek yogurt keeps it incredibly soft and moist while giving the cake a tender texture, and the almond butter adds the most delicious richness to every bite. If you love quick desserts like my Strawberry Shortcake Mug Cake, my Single Serve Cottage Cheese Cinnamon Roll, or either of my single serve cookies, this recipe has that same low-effort, high-reward energy.
What I especially love about this chocolate mug cake is how versatile it is depending on what you’re going for. Enjoy it as-is for a quick weekday dessert, top it with my Coconut Whipped Cream or Almond Butter for something extra special, or pair it with fresh berries for an easy elevated treat. And if you’re a fellow chocolate lover always looking for your next fix, you absolutely need to try my Small Batch Brownie Pudding, it has that same rich, gooey chocolatey goodness in another easy-to-make dessert form.

How to Make
In a microwave-safe mug, stir together the Greek yogurt, almond butter, milk, maple syrup, and vanilla until smooth.

Add the flour, cacao powder, baking powder, and salt. Mix until fully combined and no lumps remain.

Stir in the chocolate chips, then sprinkle a few extra on top.

Microwave for 60–90 seconds, depending on your microwave, until just set in the center.

Let it sit for 1–2 minutes before digging in. The chocolate chips will be perfectly melted and gooey.

Tips and Tricks
- Do not overmix the batter or the mug cake can become dense. Stir until just combined.
- Microwave times vary greatly, so start with 60 seconds and add more time in 10-second increments if needed.
- Slightly undercooking gives the center a gooier, molten texture.
- Use a wider mug rather than a narrow one for more even cooking.
- Let the mug cake cool for 1–2 minutes before eating so the texture can finish setting.
How to Serve and Store
This mug cake is best enjoyed fresh right after making while warm and gooey. Since it’s a single serve dessert, storage typically isn’t necessary, but if needed, cover and refrigerate leftovers for up to 1 day. Reheat for 10–15 seconds in the microwave before enjoying.
