Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- High protein for the win: Getting in my daily dose of protein has become one of my latest obsessions — I just feel a whole lot better when I do! Ingredients like Greek yogurt are a great way to sneak it into desserts, which is exactly what I did here.
- Naturally gluten-free without having to adjust the recipe at all! You can also easily make this vegan with a non-dairy yogurt, plant-based protein and vegan chocolate.
- Minimal ingredients, maximum flavor: You only need 6 things to make my mini cheesecake bites recipe, and I bet you already have most at home.
- Enjoy as a dessert or as a snack. I’ve even been known to scarf down a few as my pre-workout.
Ingredients and Substitutions
These are the main ingredients and substitutions for Frozen Yogurt Mini Cheesecake Bites. Scroll down to the recipe card for a full list of ingredients and instructions.
Greek Yogurt: The base of your bites! Greek yogurt adds a creamy texture and a touch of tang. You can substitute plant-based yogurt if you’d like! But for flavoring, I’d recommend sticking to plain or vanilla.
Maple Syrup: Sweetens the frozen cheesecake bites without overpowering the other flavors. Feel free to honey, agave, date syrup, sugar or just leave it out all together- but it won’t be very sweet!
Vanilla Extract: Adds an extra dose of warmth and sweetness.
Protein Powder: Use your favorite! And, note that not all protein powders are considered equal. Depending on the brand that you use, you may need a little more or a little less. Feel free to add or subtract based on the texture of the dough — it should be creamy and pliable.
Chocolate Chips: You’ll melt these down with a bit of coconut oil to create the chocolate shell!

How to Make Mini Cheesecake Bites
Make the cheesecake center
Add the Greek yogurt, maple syrup, and vanilla extract to a bowl and mix to combine. Incorporate the protein powder and mix until you get a pliable dough.

Flash freeze
Grab a cookie scoop and create uniform-sized balls. Place on a piece of parchment paper and flash freeze for 10 minutes.

Melt the chocolate chips
While you wait, heat the chocolate chips with the coconut oil in the microwave in 30-second bursts until melted.

Assemble & freeze again
Dip the frozen yogurt mini cheesecake bites into the melted to coat then place back on the parchment paper. Freeze for 15 more minutes, or until the chocolate coating is firm. Enjoy!

Tips and Tricks
- Make sure you use a protein powder you actually like! The flavor will come through in the final results. If you don’t like the taste of a particular powder, then you won’t like the taste of your finished treats.
- To make these vegan, use non-dairy yogurt, plant-based protein and vegan chocolate.
- Your dough should be pliable but not too sticky. If it comes out too dry, add a small amount yogurt back into the mixture, start with a small spoonful and add more as needed. If it’s too wet, add more protein powder.
- For the best texture, let the outer chocolate coating freeze completely before digging in. They should be good to go after about 15 minutes.
How to Serve and Store Frozen Cheesecake Bites
Once your mini cheesecake bites are frozen, feel free to enjoy whenever you’re ready. I’ll bet you can’t eat just one (guilty!). I like to have these as a little pick-me-up in the afternoons or as an after-dinner snack.
You can store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-5 days, or up to 2 months in the freezer. Just be sure to let them thaw a bit before digging in — they’ll be a bit harder to bite into when frozen completely.

Taste And Texture
These frozen cheesecake bites are creamy, tangy, and have the yummiest flavor. I find they taste a lot like cheesecake, which is where they got their name!
One of my favorite parts of this Frozen Yogurt Mini Cheesecake Bites recipe is how versatile it is. You could easily switch up the flavors by using a different kind of yogurt, protein powder, and chocolate. Strawberry yogurt, vanilla protein powder, and dark chocolate kind of sounds incredible, or you could do triple chocolate. There are tons of options!

CREAMY Greek Yogurt Truffles (with Protein Powder)!
Ingredients
- 1 cup plain greek yogurt (can sub vegan yogurt)
- 1/4 cup maple syrup (can sub honey, agave, sugar, or omit.)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1.5 cups protein (I used Ritual.)
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 2 tsp coconut oil
Instructions
- In a bowl, add the Greek yogurt, maple syrup, and vanilla extract and whisk to combine.
- Incorporate the protein powder and mix with a rubber spatula until you get a pliable dough. Please note, that not all protein powders are considered equal. Depending on the brand that you use, you may need a little more or a little less. Feel free to add or subtract based on the texture of the dough — it should be creamy and pliable.
- Grab a 1 tbsp cookie scoop and create uniform-sized balls. Roll between the palm of your hands and place on a piece of parchment paper and flash freeze for 10 minutes.
- While you wait, heat the chocolate chips with the coconut oil in the microwave in 30-second bursts until melted.
- Dip the frozen yogurt mini cheesecake bites into the melted chocolate to coat, then place back on the parchment paper. Freeze for 15 more minutes, or until the chocolate coating is firm and enjoy!
Notes
- Make sure you use a protein powder you actually like! The flavor will come through in the final results. If you don’t like the taste of a particular powder, then you won’t like the taste of your finished treats.
- To make these vegan, use non-dairy yogurt and plant-based protein.
- Your dough should be pliable but not too sticky. If it comes out too dry, add a small amount of milk (like almond or oat) one teaspoon at a time. If it’s too wet, add more protein powder.
- For the best texture, let your chocolate covered cheesecake bites freeze completely before digging in. They should be good to go after about 15 minutes, but if you have the patience, they’ll be even better if you wait even longer!

How many calories in each?
\I do not have macros on my website at all- reason being is my page is to hopefully inspire those to learn how to enjoy food without the numbers. HOWEVER, I understand some need to know for their own health reasons. There are tons of free macro calculators on google like MyFitness Pal, which takes just a few minutes to plug in the ingredients and servings to determine. I hope that helps!
HI! Just found your website and I LOVE IT! One question about these…does the filling get icy in the freezer or does the chocolate coating protect it? Just don’t want to chip a tooth when I bite into it…LOL!
Hi!! the texture will be a bit hard when frozen, so i recommend letting thaw on the counter for 5-10 minutes before enjoying. I do recommend storing these in the FRIDGE though for the best texture then you can eat straight away 🙂
Why can’t I get the right consistency? It was super soupy at the beginning so I kept adding more and more powder. It’s now thicker finally but it’s so sticky! What am I doing wrong? I put it in the fridge, hoping to try to roll it tonight. 😅🤦🏼♀️
You’re not doing anything wrong — it’s totally normal for this to happen! 🥰 Not all protein powders are created equal, so the texture can change depending on the brand you use. Some powders absorb a lot more liquid than others.
I always recommend starting with a little less and then adding more if you need it! The dough should be creamy and pliable — not super soupy, but not super sticky either. Refrigerating it is a great idea — it’ll firm up as it chills and should be much easier to roll later! Let me know how it turns out! 🤍
Hi, do you have to use Protein Powder?
The protein powder is necessary because it helps bind everything together. However, you could use substitute for another grain like almond flour, coconut flour or oat flour. it’s just hard to say how much without properly testing the recipe myself.
