This fruit salad is one of those recipes I didn’t expect to make on repeat, but somehow it keeps showing up in my kitchen every winter. It started as a quick way to add something fresh to dinner, and now it’s the first thing everyone reaches for.

I love having recipes like this during colder months because they add a bright, fresh element to heavier meals. Most of the time I’ll snack on it straight from the bowl, but it’s also so good spooned over yogurt, layered into oatmeal, or served alongside my ginger turmeric shots for an extra boost or my chicken noodle soup and other nourishing homemade soups when you want something warm and comforting. I also have a few other fruit salad variations on the blog if you like switching up your seasonal fruit combinations depending on what’s in your fridge.

Tips and Tricks

  • Use a mix of textures. Combine juicy citrus, crisp apples, and soft berries so every bite has contrast. Texture is what takes a basic fruit salad from good to really satisfying.
  • Add citrus zest for brightness. A little fresh orange or lemon zest wakes everything up and enhances the natural sweetness without needing extra sweetener.
  • Wait to add delicate fruit. If prepping ahead, stir in softer fruits like raspberries or bananas right before serving so they don’t get mushy.
  • Salt makes fruit sweeter. Just a tiny pinch of flaky sea salt enhances the flavor and balances the sweetness beautifully. It’s a small step that makes a big difference.
  • Chill before serving. Let the fruit salad sit in the fridge for 30–60 minutes before serving so the juices mingle and everything tastes extra fresh and cohesive.

How to Save and Store

Store the fruit salad in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. The fruit will naturally release juices as it sits, so just give it a gentle stir before serving. If you’re meal-prepping, you can chop sturdier fruits ahead of time and add softer berries right before serving to keep the texture at its best.
