Breakfast
Air Fryer Monkey Bread

I love recipes that double as breakfast or dessert! This air fried monkey bread recipe is exactly that, these bite sized cinnamon sugar balls are made with only a few simple ingredients, it’s basically like having oatmeal for breakfast, (but in a different shape).
The monkey bread dough is made with oat flour and vegan yogurt, but feel free to use a non-vegan yogurt alternative if you prefer! They are then rolled into small bite size pieces and then smothered in a coconut sugar + cinnamon mixture. Once in the air fryer they become gooey, creamy and so undeniably delicious!

Ingredients in single serve monkey bread
This monkey bread recipe makes about 2-3 servings depending on who’s eating (I won’t judge if you eat them all by yourself either- who cares!) Because this recipe is made with simple, wholesome ingredients it’s healthy enough to eat for breakfast, but also sweet enough to enjoy for dessert!
oat flour– I used oat flour for this recipe, but you can also sub regular all purpose flour if you’d like! To make you own homemade oat flour, simply blend old fashioned oats until broken down to a fine flour.
vegan yogurt– to make this recipe vegan, I used a vegan yogurt. However, feel free to use whichever yogurt you prefer. Dairy or non-dairy will work here!
salt– salt is necessary to help balance out the flavors!
baking powder– just a small amount of baking powder to help these bites become nice and fluffy!
cinnamon– cinnamon mixed with the sugar is what makes this recipe monkey bread!
coconut sugar– I used coconut sugar for this recipe, but fee free to use cane sugar if you’d like!
oat milk– to make the cinnamon + sugar sauce I used oat milk, but you can substitute any type of milk/nut milk!

How to make air fryer monkey bread
Making this air fryer monkey bread is fast, easy and stress-free! I also made this in the air fryer (hence the name) but you can also make it in the oven if you don’t have an air fryer! You may also be able to microwave it as well, however, I have not tested this method yet- so feel free to leave a comment below if you try it and it works!
Start by making the dough for this recipe. In a medium bowl, combine oat flour, salt, baking powder and yogurt. Mix with a spatula until a dough starts to form, you may need to use your hands to really incorporate all the ingredients together.
Feel free to flour your hands with more oat flour if needed so that the dough doesn’t stick to your hands. Once the ingredients are combined you should have a thick dough to work with.
Next, lightly grease the inside of an oven safe ramekin. Then, break off the dough and start to roll it into small bite size pieces, place the balls in the greased ramekin and repeat until dough is finished.
Then, in a small bowl, combine cinnamon, sugar and oat milk. Mix with a spoon or fork until ingredients are well combined. Pour this mixture over the rolled dough until each piece is evenly coated.
Place the entire ramekin inside the air fryer and fry at 350F for 10 minutes. Carefully remove the ramekin with pot holders- it will be HOT.
Carefully place the ramekin upside down on a plate and lift it up until the monkey bread comes out. You may need to give it a little shake but it should fall out. Then, ENJOY!!

This recipe is one of my top favorites that I make often. I normally always have leftover vegan yogurt and no clue what to use it for. I always have oat flour on hand. I’m always in a sweet tooth mood. I find it very convenient to make in an air fryer. I think it is reminiscent of a churro or donut in some ways. This recipe will always be a breakfast favorite of mine! I love the glaze that goes on top!
