Ingredients And Substitutions
These are the main ingredients and substitutions for Gluten Free Avocado Brownies. Scroll down to the recipe card for a full list of ingredients and instructions.
Use fresh, ripe avocados for best results. You want them to be soft with little to no browning.
I prefer to use an unrefined sweetener like coconut sugar or maple syrup, however, any sugar will work such as cane sugar, brown sugar, agave or honey. Monk fruit sweetener will work as well.
Vanilla extract adds flavor to any baked good.
Cacao powder will give these brownies that rich, deep chocolate taste.
Almond flour is a grain free flour that I love to use in my recipes for gluten free baking. It works great as providing a lovely texture and a nutty taste.
An egg is going to make these brownies super moist while providing a nice texture. I have not tested this recipe with an egg substitute, however, a flax or chia egg should work as well.
Baking powder will help these brownies rise during baking time.
You can use chocolate chips, chocolate chunks or chop up your favorite chocolate bar.
