Back when I was working a 9-to-5, stopping at Starbucks for their Strawberry Overnight Oats was part of my morning routine. I’ve always been an overnight oats girl (which is probably why I’ve created so many versions over the years—hello maple, matcha, and cheesecake-flavored oats!), so naturally, I was obsessed. But then I took a look at my bank statements and realized just how much I was spending on something I could easily make at home. So, I got to work recreating them, and let me tell you—I nailed it. The flavor, the texture, the balance of sweetness—it’s all there, and honestly, I might even like my homemade version better.

And I’m so glad I figured out how to make them myself because—of course—Starbucks discontinued them (RIP to a real one). If you loved them too, or just need an easy, meal-prep-friendly breakfast that tastes so freaking good, you have to try this. These oats are made with simple, wholesome ingredients, come together in minutes, and will keep in the fridge all week long. They’re naturally sweet, creamy, and totally customizable, so you can make them exactly how you like. Plus, no more spending $$$ on something you can whip up at home for a fraction of the price!

ingredients and Substitutions for quinoa overnight oats

These are the main ingredients and substitutions for Starbucks Strawberry Grain Oats. Be sure to scroll down to the recipe card at the bottom of this page for a full list of ingredients and instructions.

Use old fashioned rolled oats for this recipe. Quick oats or steel cut oats will not work as a 1:1 replacement.

Make sure to use pre-cooked quinoa.

I recommend sticking with coconut milk for this recipe because it adds a more sweet and creamy flavor, however, you can also use any other milk or nut milk alternative.

A touch of maple syrup adds a lovely flavor and the perfect amount of sweetness. You can also use honey, agave or date syrup.

a spoon with a scoop of overnight oats.

Tips and tricks

Portioning Made Easy – You can divide the oats into 2-3 containers before storing or keep them in one large jar and portion them out when ready to eat. Either way works!

Perfectly Toasted Toppings – For extra flavor and crunch, toast your almonds and coconut in the air fryer at 350°F for 3-5 minutes or on the stovetop over medium heat. Just keep an eye on them—they can go from golden to burnt real quick!

Keep It Crunchy – Only add your toasted almonds and coconut right before eating so they stay crispy and don’t get soggy in the fridge.

Adjust the Consistency – If your oats thicken up too much overnight, just stir in a splash of coconut milk (or your favorite milk) in the morning to loosen them up.

Make It Your Own – Feel free to switch up the sweetener, milk, or toppings to match your taste. A drizzle of honey, extra berries, or even a dollop of yogurt would be so good!

How to serve and store

Enjoy these Starbucks-Style Strawberry Quinoa Oats with your favorite morning drink—whether it’s a cup of coffee, a protein shake, tea, or just a refreshing glass of water.

For storage, keep the oats in an airtight container in the fridge and enjoy them within 4-5 days. Store the toasted coconut and almonds separately to keep them crunchy, and the strawberries can be mixed in, placed on top, or stored separately until you’re ready to eat!

Taste and Texture

These Starbucks-style Strawberry Quinoa Oats are the perfect balance of sweet, creamy, and slightly nutty with a hint of vanilla in every bite. The oats and quinoa soak up all the flavors overnight, creating a thick and velvety texture that’s incredibly satisfying.

The juicy strawberries add bursts of freshness, while the toasted coconut and almonds bring a delicious crunch that takes each bite to the next level. If you love a thicker consistency, these oats are perfect as is, but if you prefer them a bit looser, just stir in a splash of coconut milk before eating. Every spoonful is packed with rich, comforting flavors that will keep you coming back for more!

I am so excited to try making this! I am in love with Starbuck’s version and hate all of the sugar (and $$$). I do wonder, though, if you left chia seeds out intentionally? If I want to add them back in, do you know about how much?

Hi Shawna!
I think you will love this recipe! It tastes like the real deal! I didn’t add chia seeds to this recipe. What shows in the photo is the quinoa, but you can totally add in chia seeds no problem! I would suggest 1 Tbsp! Let me know how it turns out for you!!

This recipe is so delish! I added chia seeds to my recipe and it turned out wonderful! Healthy, fulfilling, and yummy!

How long do you think it would last in the refrigerator if I made more than one a night? I work 3rd shift and would be so much easier to just make a few, grab and go

Hi Chelsea! You can keep overnight oats in the fridge all week if you’d like. I always like to make a big batch Sunday night and have some on hand throughout the week! I would say 5 days max to ensure freshness.

This receipt was clean fast and easy. I prep this now for myself and the kids in advance so it makes for an easy breakfast to get our day started. I need to try this with or integrate Chia seeds versus quinoa; since the kids are not keen on it.

absolutely!! If you like a sweeter overnight oats and aren’t using sweet almond milk, then I’d recommend adding in 1 tbsp maple syrup.

Did you cook the quinoa first? Or was it just dry quinoa added to the recipe and left in the fridge overnight?

Hi Chelsay! I’m so happy to hear that, this is definitely one of my favorites too. Thanks for your comment and rating!

Hi Alissa! Thank you so much for your comment, it really means so much to me. I’m so glad you’re enjoying the recipes! xx
