How to Make Baked Cinnamon Apples
Add the vanilla, coconut oil, and sugar to a large bowl and mix to combine. Stir in the oats, oat flour, ground flaxseed meal, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.

Remove the core of each apple and place in an 8×8-inch nonstick baking pan.

Spoon the filling mixture into each apple core, making sure to fill them all the way to the top.

Pour some warm water into the pan, then bake for 40-45 minutes. Let them cool slightly before serving and enjoy!

How to Serve and Store Baked Whole Apples
I typically baste the baked cinnamon apples with the juice from the pan for added flavor! They taste best served warm with ice cream and my dairy-free coconut caramel sauce on top.
You can store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. I recommend using your oven or air fryer to reheat for the best texture — 15 minutes or so at 350 degrees F should be enough.
If you want to store them for longer, you can freeze them! Flash-freeze on a baking sheet until solid, then once frozen, transfer to a freezer bag and store for up to 3 months. When ready to serve, thaw the baked whole apples in the fridge overnight before reheating.

Easy and Tender Whole Baked Cinnamon Apples
Ingredients
Baked Apples
- 1/2 cup oat flour
- 1/3 cup organic old fashioned oats
- 1/4 cup coconut sugar (can use cane, brown sugar or maple syrup)
- 1/4 cup coconut oil (or butter)
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 cup ground flaxseed meal (can omit)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 4 large apples (red preferred but any color works!)
- 1 cup warm water for baking
Serve with
- vanilla ice cream
- yogurt
- dairy free caramel
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375F and have an 8×8 baking dish nearby.
- In a bowl, mix together vanilla, coconut oil, coconut sugar, then stir in oats, oat flour, ground flax, cinnamon and nutmeg.
- Core each apple about 3/4 way down, then use a spoon to core out a little more to make the opening bigger.
- Place the cored apples in an 8×8 baking dish, spoon filling into each apple, pressing your finger into the center to make sure it's fully compacted. Fill each one to the very top, slightly overfilling.
- Pour warm water into the pan and bake for 40-45 minutes or until apples are soft and tender.
- Baste the outside of each apple with the juice from the pan, if preferred.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, yogurt and caramel
Notes
- Don’t skip the water: I know it will be tempting to breeze over that step, but you absolutely need to add some warm water to the pan before baking. Not only does it help the whole baked apples cook properly, but it also keeps them from drying out or becoming mushy.
- Adjust the baking time if needed: All ovens are different and all apples differ in size, so you may need to tweak the baking time for these! I recommend checking in on the apples after about 35 minutes. If they’re ready to pull out, go for it!
- Make ahead tip: You can easily prepare these in advance — so helpful if you decide to serve these at a dinner party. Simply core the apples and then stuff them with the filling. Store them in the fridge for up to 24 hours until you’re ready to bake!
- Use an apple corer: I know adding yet another kitchen gadget to your drawer may sound daunting, but trust me, it helps so much when it comes to this recipe!
