Easy Healthy Chocolate Granola

Homemade granola is one of my favorite things to have on hand. It’s so easy to make and naturally delicious. I love how crispy it gets in the oven or even air fryer for the perfect crunch every time. It’s great to add on top of yogurt, smoothies, oatmeal or even just to munch on as a snack!
This recipe is also extremely flexible. You can use vanilla instead of chocolate, or even your favorite fruit, nut, or protein. The amount of possibilities are endless!
Let’s get into it…
Ingredients needed to make simple healthy homemade granola
- Old fashioned oats- you can also sub gluten-free oats if necessary!
- Coconut- I like to use unsweetened coconut stripes
- Cacao- organic cacao is my favorite, you can really tell the difference in taste and color
- Coconut oil
- Date syrup- Date syrup is my favorite sweetener to use, however, you can use honey, agave, or even maple syrup
- Sun butter- or any other nut butter
- Almonds- diced almond give this granola a nice crunch
- Chia seeds- for those Omega-3’s!

How to make Chocolate Granola from scratch
Make this homemade chocolate granola is really so simple. The steps are short and sweet, just like this recipe. Now, there are two methods you can use to make this delicious chocolate granola. You can bake them in the oven, or you can air fry them. I have an air fryer oven- which might be different than most air fryers. So, I would recommend sticking to the oven just to be safe.
Of course, the first step is to always preheat your oven to 300F. Nothing is worse than prepping an item and realizing you forgot to turn the oven on!
Once you have your oven preheating, you will start to make the granola by simply combining all your ingredients in a large bowl and mixing until well incorporated.
Transfer your granola onto a baking sheet that is lined with parchment paper and spread it out until the granola is in one thin layer. This is key! If the granola is over crowded it will be soggy and burn, you want to make sure it has enough room to get nice and crispy.
Once you have done that, you will bake the granola in the oven for 20 minutes.
When the granola is done baking, allow to cool completely.
Once it has cooled, break the granola apart with your hands into small and large clusters. AND THAT’S IT.
I told you it was that simple! Granola is best stored in an air tight container somewhere cool and dry like your pantry!
Store up to 2 weeks.
