ingredients and Substitutions
These are the main ingredients and substitutions for my Spicy Cucumber Margarita. Be sure to scroll down to the recipe card at the bottom of this page for a full list of ingredients and instructions.
Rim the glass with hot honey and tajin for added flavor. You can use regular honey, agave or even lime juice in replace. If you don’t like tajin, use course salt or make your own mixture with sugar and chili powder.
Use fresh, english cucumber and jalapeños.
Blender the cucumber and jalapeños with water until well combined.
I used 21 seeds Valencia Orange tequila because I thought the orange would add a lovely sweet flavor, which it did and honestly it’s all I really had on hand! However, they also have a cucumber jalapeno one that would be PERFECT for this recipe. You can also use any type of unflavored tequila in replace.
Fresh lime juice is always recommended, however you can also use lime juice from a bottle.
Just a touch of agave to sweeten up this drink and to help balance out the flavors.
how to make
ONE: Start by riming the glasses with hot honey and tajin. First add hot honey to plate and then place the glass on it until it’s well coated. Next, add tajin to a plate and dip the glass and coat well. Place them in the freezer in the meantime while you prepare the other ingredients.
TWO: Next, add fresh cucumber and jalapeno slices to a blender with water and then blend until well combined. Use a mesh strainer to remove the pulp from the juice. Discard the pulp.

THREE: In a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, fresh lime juice, agave and ice. Cover and shake well.
FOUR: Add ice to the prepared glasses and then add in the tequila mixture (without the ice). Top it off with the cucumber jalapeno juice, garnish and enjoy!

Tips and tricks
Place your rimmed glasses in the freezer to get nice and cold while you prepare the other ingredients.
Use a mesh strainer to separate the juice from the pulp.
If you don’t have a cocktail shaker, use a protein shaker!

This spicy margarita is incredibly light and refreshing. It’s subtly sweet and has a small, spicy kick as an aftertaste. Drink it without a straw so you get the flavors from the hot honey and tajin rim.
