ingredients and Substitutions
These are the main ingredients and substitutions for Blackberry Mocktail. Be sure to scroll down to the recipe card at the bottom of this page for a full list of ingredients and instructions.
I recommend using fresh blackberries, although I have not tried this recipe with frozen berries, i’m sure it will work. Just let them thaw ahead.
Fresh basil adds a lovely flavor and aroma to this mocktail, you can also use mint instead.
Lime juice adds the perfect amount of tang, you can use lemon in replace.
I used coconut water which is naturally sweet and adds a lovely flavor. Just be sure to check the ingredients and use a coconut water that has only one ingredient.
Sparkling water or club soda adds the perfect amount of fizz to this mocktail recipe. Try to stay away from tonic water as it is usually filled with other ingredients.
Chili fruit powder or tajin for the rim adds a nice touch!

how to make
ONE: Start by adding the blackberries, basil and lime juice to a cocktail shaker, then muddle them until the berries are broken down and there is a good amount of juice.

TWO: Next, add in the coconut water and ice and shake until well combined. Prepare a glass by brushing a lime wedge around the rim, and then dipping in chile powder. This is optional, but strongly encouraged.

THREE: Fill the glass with ice and then pour in the blackberry mixture 3/4 of the way full. Finish it off with the sparkling water and garnish with a lime wedge and enjoy!
Tips and tricks
Use a cocktail shaker and muddler for best results. If you don’t have one, you can also use a fork to smashed the berries and basil together.
Rim the line of the glass with chili powder, salt or tajin.
How to serve and store
Serve this blackberry mocktail with dinner or enjoy for a little happy hour at home.
This drink is best enjoyed once it’s made, but if you have any leftovers, it’s best to store it separately from the ice so that way your mocktail doesn’t get watered down.
If you like your beverage to be really sweet, add in honey, agave or maple syrup.

Taste
Since there is no added sugar in this mocktail, it’s not overly sweet but instead perfectly sweet (in my opinion). You can however add in maple syrup, honey or agave to add more sweetness if preferred.
This blackberry mocktail is incredibly refreshing, light and full of flavor.
